The concept of identity along with the promotion of a sense of community, safety and security are at the basis of the project for West Benghazi. The masterplan was conceived as a process of de-aggregation of 200.000 housing units, grouped by “villages”, which are then organised in eight residential clusters. Each “village” has a centre including public services and activities, the mosque and a public park surrounded by the residential parcels.
