A new techno-city was proposed in 2013 to boost economic growth with service oriented industries in the field of information technology and its enabled services. It will be located at approximately 30km from the city of Nairobi, in the Machakos County.
Interestingly another new town expected to become the Kenyan “Silicon Valley”, Konza City, is located within the same area. A new challenge for the Government will be how to deal with the development of these two interrelated cities.
