The community of Duiven consists of three villages: Duiven, Groessen and Loo and has more than 25.000 inhabitants. The town of Duiven has a total surface area of 3.516 hectare (of which 48 hectare is basin) and counts 9.600 residences. The community is situated alongside the highway A12 in the Liemers, above the Pannerdens Canal. From 1986 till 1994 Duiven has been a growing community. From 1995 she focuses
mainly on the administration of her properties and territory.

The centre of Duiven has the charisma of a typical village-centre. Small streets, the necessary supermarkets and stores and an offer of sports, recreation and events. There are concrete plans to have an entirely renewed centre in Duiven in less than a decade. Many new houses emerge next to the existing ones and new shops and the catering gets more space.

At the Remigiussquare people get in touch with each other. Informal, spontaneous or organised by the market, the cultural centre, the pubs, stores, organised events and the church. Also the shoppingstreets are worth visiting. The glass-roofed shoppingstreet Elshofpassage functions well and gives a wellcrafted image. Besides this, the Pastoriestraat and Kerkepad are two beautiful shoppingstreets that connect well with this passage.

The community of Duiven is part of a cross-border agreement by the name of Euregio Rijn-Waal. One of its purposes is to fortify lasting cross-border structures in different fields of daily life (work, living, investments, Town and Country Planning, environment, recreation, culture, etc.).
