Plan of Town Planning Associates, commissioned by the Brazilian Airplane factory Commission, for a new town centred around an airplane engine factory. A town for a population of 25.000 inhabitants on an undeveloped site on the Rio-Petropolis Highway, twenty-five miles from Rio de Janeiro. The scheme was based on zoning in terms of the CIAM 'four functions' and the use of widely spaced housing slabs set in greenery, organized into 'neighbourhood units' and linked by highways. Sert expanded these principles tot five when he introduced the civic centre, the core for this new town.
