Domodedovo was founded in 1900 as a settlement next to a railroad station under the same name. The town was called after a nearby village of Domodedovo, which is known to have existed since 1410. The town was granted town status in 1947. The Domodedovo International Airport is located a few kilometers away from Domodedovo. source:
